Chelsea's 100 per cent record came to an end with defeat against Wigan Athletic.
Titus Bramble put Wigan ahead, but Didier Drogba equalised after the break.
However, Petr Cech was sent-off for bringing down Hugo Rodallega and the Colombian converted the resulting spot-kick.
Paul Scharner made sure of the points for Wigan late on.
